It has been a busy new year but HASL is ready to present the first of 5 contests for 2010. The 2nd Annual Victoria Skimboards Dangerous Shorebreak Skim Contest on Saturday March 6th at world famous Sandy Beach, Oahu.
We hope to see guys such as last years top three in the 21 year old group, Tyson Tsuda, Alex Bee, & Ian Tierney as well as our younger members, Forrst Dein, Colin Camp, & Alex Abe, to make this a tough and competitive division. Adding other members from a previously different division like Irving Taba, & Janver Fudolig would make for more action packed heats. Other members who also did good last year that we hope to see include Micah Bush, Cliff Wenger, Eric Sterman, & Travis Tsuda.
Women’s division hopes to see Jasmine Joy, & Natalie Nakasone from Oahu. Plus Nikki Lee, Angi Hoffman, Coral Mathison, Nicole Sone, & Dustin Tester all from Maui. It’s good to see this many for the women’s division.
We expect to have 2009 champ Clark “sharkboy” Camp go against runners up Keith “party” Fowler & Kyle “little man” Olson. Combined with Dave Sterman, Ace Conlon, & Sean McClenahan, & don’t forget Keaio GB making this a division that is extremely competitive. I don’t want to forget Lance Dettle & Chris Alreck from Santa Cruz which breeds premium skimmers who are also in this division.
Another new announcement is a HASL facebook page has been recently created to offer current updates. There is also a cool album with all the graphics used from last year. The website is used to hold the registration links but is a slow process to update. The HASL facebook can communicate quickly and will hold pictures, graphics, and allow discussions for 2010.
Mahalo to Victoria Skimboards for offering their support and Lulu’s Waikiki for providing food the day of the event. Check in starts at 7am and contest starts at 8am. The 2010 contest is almost confirmed and that update will be out soon so that everyone can make plans.
