The DWK crew & a few students recently spent a week in the kiteboarding Mecca of Cape Hatteras, NC. The wind was up and the sun was out every day. Although we are just getting our heads around how to use the new skimboard DB Skimboards sent us, we are super excited to push “SkimKiting” and think it’s going to be the next big thing in kiteboarding. In light wind its impossible to have more fun than on a skimboard with a 12m kite. When the wind came up we stuck with the skimboard and found that it just got funner and funner (with much better crashes too). There is so much potential here. This was just us messing around on our last day but now were thinking about outfitting sections of shallow shoreline with simple wood and plastic rails, kickers and sculpted natural features for downwind runs in light to medium wind.
