The world’s top male and female skimboarders will be gathering at a popular spot in Laguna Beach this weekend for the 2010 Victoria Skimboards World Championships of Skimboarding (WCS) event.
The Pro event is open to the 50 most qualified male and female competitors and the Amateur divisions are open to the 80 best guy and girl riders of all ages. Some of the big names who will be competing in the Women’s Pro Division include: San Diego native Tia D’ambrosioa and San Clemente resident and Slostik skimboarder, Shonna Cobb.
The Men’s Pro Event welcomes back Exile skimboarder and 2009 world champion Brandon Sears of Dana Point and Laguna Beach’s own 14-time world champion Bill “Beaker” Bryan.
The two-day competition will be judged by five skimboarding industry experts. The event is free and open to the public, but you should get there early if you want a good seat on the sand. For more info. check out victoriaskimboards.com.
