My name is Pamela Simpson.
Where are you from?
I am originally from Colorado, born and raised. I live in Laguna Beach now.
How old are you?
I am 33-years old.
How long have you been skimming?
I have been skimming for a total of about five years.
Where do you skim normally?
Normally I skim at oak street to thalia street…close to home.
Who do you skim with?
I love to skim with Shonna Cobb, when she is not around, I skim alone or with the groms.
What is your favorite skim spot?
My favorite skim spot is 10th Street, South Laguna or Victoria Beach.
Where have you traveled to skimboard?
I haven’t traveled anywhere specifically to skimboard.
Where do you want to travel to skim?
I’d like to skim in South France
What board(s) do you ride?
I used to ride an old school Slotstick, now I ride an Exile.
Do you compete?
Yes, I compete.
If so, what competitions have you competed in?
I have competed in 3 West Coast Victoria Championships, a couple West Street contests, and a couple Laguna Surf & Sport contests.
And what are some of your contest highlights?
In 2005, I took third overall, Last Year, I won best wipeout.

No sponsors.
What other board sports do you partake in?
I love to snowboard, surf, and skate, oh..and wakeboarding
What skimboarding goals do you have?
My skimboarding goals are to simply…keep on skimming.
Where do you see the skimboarding going in the future?
I see the future of skimming as a bright one. More women involved in the sport, more sponsorship, and more competitions.
What riders influenced your skimboarding?
The riders who have influenced my skimboarding are: Chia, first time I ever tried skimming, I borrowed his board. Dan Millman or DanO, from So Lag, gave me some helpful beginner tips, and Shonna Cobb who continues to inspire me.
What riders are pushing the sport right now?
The riders I feel that are pushing the sport…the Women! Bill Brian, Morgan Just, Paulo Prietto, and Noogie
If you were stranded on a desert island that already has a plentiful resource of skimboards what three things would you bring?
A blunt, an instrument and fruit.
What is the best advice you can to a skim grom trying to get recognized?
Enter competitions and respect your elders.
What is Skim Chicks?
SkimChicks is a company I started a couple of years ago in order to promote the sport for women. Skimchicks goal is to one day have a pro division for women as the sport evolves, to sponsor women and see that they are treated fairly in competitions, and to educate those about the sport and the fundamentals of skimming.
Who is part of Skim Chicks?
The original Skimchicks, are Jen Jacobs, Shonna Cobb, and myself. But the company name has gone from Skimchick to Skimchicks, because we welcome all women who have love for extreme sports.
