Skimboarding in Russia is a thing and it is getting bigger and bigger every year. In fact, we are pretty hyped on this urban skim scene at the moment.
Skimboarding appeared in Russia in 2007 in Moscow. From 2007 to 2013 there were several amateur competitions in the quarries of Dzerzhinsk of Moscow Region. The popularity of the new sport in Russia began to grow since the beginning of 2014 by a team of “Skim Generation” Anatoly Lamtёva, Mikhail Medvedev and the support of the Moscow Sports Committee. Since May skimbording competitions were held in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Krasnadar region. The first major competitions were held in the framework skimboring Cup European Wake Surf Cup. Competitions were organized in artificial spot for skimboarding “Skim-pool.” “Skim-pool” has been installed on the beach of the “Royal Bar” on the banks of the Khimki Reservoir. In 2015, Russian Federation registered skimbording president is Anatoly Lamtev. Currently, the level of Russian riders are constantly growing and in the future, the Federation skimbording planing to put their riders in the world competitions.
