The Victoria Skimboards World Championship of Skimboarding (WCS) returned to Aliso Beach Park in Laguna Beach on July 16 and 17. WCS is the longest running skimboard contest on the professional circuit. The 2010 competition introduced the Women’s Professional division and the first ever, live broadcast of a professional skimboard event.
The July 2011 championship builds on previous successes and will once again feature the Women’s Professional division, an extended live digital broadcast, and will showcase riders from over ten countries battling for the skimboard industry title of “World’s Best.” General Manager of Victoria Skimboards, Trigg Garner states, “our contest has the largest international draw of any other event on the professional circuit.” He continues, “It is great for the international hometown heroes from across the globe to compete in Laguna Beach, California, against the best of the best and be watched by a global online audience.”
The 2010 local stand out and contest winner, Morgan Just, aims to repeat his performance and once again stand on top of the podium in first place. His likely competitor will be fourteen time World Champion and current United Skim Tour champion, Bill Bryan, along with other premiere skimboarding talents battling for top honors at the world renowned venue, Aliso Beach Park.
The pilgrimage for points, pride, and most of all industry respect has been set. Grab the sunscreen, mark July 16 and17, 2011 on the calendar and get ready for the next skimboard star to earn the titled the “Word’s Best” at Victoria Skimboards World Championship of Skimboarding.
