OBX Skim Jam took place over the weekend, July 20 and 21, 2013, at 5th Street, Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, USA. OBX proved to be the largest skimboarding contest in the world with 196 competitors. The annual contest is put on by Skim City.
Alexandra Badie, a Laguna Beach, California, skimboarder made the trip to compete in the Womens Pro Division. When I asked her about her experience, she had this to say, “The conditions were difficult coming from the west coast, but I enjoyed my experience! All of the girls are so nice, and I enjoyed being able to skim with them.”
I also asked 11 year old Emma Houle what the conditions were like, a competitor in the Jr. Girls Division, “The water was pretty cold and the waves got bigger as the day went on. The pro finals were pretty fun to watch, at that point the waves were pretty big!”
Congratulations everyone!
