What’s new with pro skimboarder Austin Keen? Well, he’s one of the “Most Influential People in Wave Sports 2014” according to Surfer Today. Here’s a few more updates that Austin sent over.
1st Place at the 2014 Southside Shootout
After the big win in Cabo, I had about a week home before I made my way off to Delaware for the 3rd stop of the UnitedSkimTour. We were blessed with some ride-able, but difficult conditions. After making it through every round, I came out on top in the finals, making it my second 2014 UST win in a row, and putting me at 1st place on the UnitedSkimTour ! Tybee Island Skim Camp
From Delaware I made my way to my hometown of Tybee Island Georgia, to run our first ever “Skim Tybee” Skimboarding camp. It was a pure success. We even made it on the front page of yesterday’s print newspaper as well as online. http://savannahnow.com/slideshow/2014-06-06/skim-tybee-summer-camp#slide-1 . It was an amazing experience to see how much interest in skimboarding we generated, and to teach the up and comers who were the same age as I was when I first started surfing and skimboarding the waves of Tybee Island.
