Shipwrecks on Kauai, not because it’s the best, but because it’s my home break and I love it.

Won the last Resilient Skim contest on Kauai. This year with HASL; Finals with Jake Stinnett at sandys was super fun, Second place in Kauai with Kyle Olsen. At the Exile Mini SHAKA SHAKE Down at Sandys last month I beat Keith Fowler in my first heat, stoked ’cause Keith is amazing. Made it to the finals with Clark Camp, Keith Fowler and Kyle Olsen, Choked and took 4th, but i had a great time.

What skimboarding goals do you have?
Keep competing. Win in Hawaii. Compete in the mainland. Get some sponsors. Travel. Maybe do the UST one day.
Where do you see the skimboarding going in the future?
More Side-wave deliciousness. Further out then ever side-slips to wrap in-and-outs. Longer rides, more tech on waves (think Brad Domke) and bigger airs that aren’t f#%kin out the backs!
What riders influenced your skimboarding?
Aaron Fuj! He definitely influenced me a lot when i was younger, not to mention I constantly watch videos of Domke, Noogie Paulo, Woody and Grady like it’s my own little “Twilight” saga. I love Jamie Lovett’s 3-shuv, Morgan Just’s style, Beaker Wraps are my fav, haha. And I aspire to have Steve Taylor’s lifestyle! Way to go Steve!
What riders are pushing the sport right now?
Paulo is super driven, I’m sure everyone can agree he has been a huge influence on advancing the sport. Domke’s skimming is the next generation of progression. Cameron Satterfield from Kauai is also super progressive, look out for this kid,20) If you were stranded on a desert island that already has a plentiful resource of skimboards what three things would you bring? I hate this question, uhhhh. I would bring a quiver of surfboards, my girlfriend/skimfriends and plenty of alcs for me and my skimfriends to partake in when the waves lack.
What is the best advice you can give to a skim grom trying to get recognized?
Stay focused on skimming your best, if you go to a contest and really skim your best thats way more important then getting 1st. Put yourself out there in the skim world! Online tools are super useful now days, Skimboarding has an amazing online community. Go to contests, not only because they promote the sport, but also because they are a good place to get noticed and make friends in your area.
SOMETIMES they can even be fun!
Do you wave skim? Flatland? Both?
Mostly waves here in Kauai, However I’ve done some flatwater wake-wench stuff and slid some homemade floating rails which was tremendously enjoyable.
What is your favorite skimboarding trick?
Frontside airs with weird grabs and backside bigger spin reverts feel sick on little liners. But, i’d have to say wraps are my favorite. I get really stoked on getting covered up and traveling in a sick barrel, especially beaker wraps and traveling, that feels really sick.
Last words? Shout outs?
Come to Hawaii and skim! It’s beautiful, it’s warm and it can actually get really good, but thats a secret so shhhhh!
