We interviewed JGordon team rider Kyle Bazner.
Check it out…
What’s your name?
Kyle “kmanlolz” Bazner
Where are you from?
I currently live in my parents basement in Traverse City Michigan.
How old are you?
I’m 16, 17 in May.
How long have you been skimming?
I’ve been skimming for four years, two years flatland.
Where do you skim normally?
North Bar Beach…dopest spot around town.
Who do you skim with?
Skim with the bros, Adam Scarbrough, Josh Wright, Nate Sharpe, Alec, Jesse, alot of locals.
What is your favorite part about JGordon Skimboards?
My favorite part of J-Gordon skimboards would have to be Jim the owner, he is a super chill guy and is always pushing his boards to his fullest. He also is always giving the riders what they need when they need it, boards, shirts, wax, etc. He takes good care of us. Also, the team is pretty gnar, me, Amos, and Rob all meet up over the summer to skim, which is pretty awesome becuase Amos is from Louisiana and Rob is from canada and they came to Michigan to skim with the crew. We also picked up Adam Scarbrough to the skim team, another local here in Michigan.
Where have you traveled to skimboard?
I’ve traveled no where so far, but I plan on going to Louisiana this summer.
Where do you want to travel to skim?
I want to go to Sacramento and Canada.
What board(s) do you ride?
Medium JGordon Switchblade
Do you compete?
I plan to compete if i travel, but around here I plan the local contest and judge them.
And what are some of your contest highlights?
I put together the first annual SBX Up North Skim comp here in Michigan over the summer and it had a huge turnout. 35 competors and around 100 spectators.
Do you have any sponsors? What companies?
JGordon skimboards
What other board sports do you partake in?
Snowboard a lot in the winter considering we have a billion feet of snow from november to April.
What skimboarding goals do you have?
My skimboarding goals are to compete in a contest and place and just spread the word flatland skimboarding and get people stoked on it.
Where do you see the skimboarding going in the future?
In the future, I see skimboarding getting mainstream, we just have to wait and see.
What riders influenced your skimboarding?
A few riders that influenced me have to be Sam Collett, Minns, Matthead, some more…just forget…
What riders are pushing the sport right now?
Anyone who is out flatland skimboarding and spreading the word is pushing the sport. But for specifics the riders in B.C. and Sactown are definetly raising the standards for flatland.
If you were stranded on a desert island that already has a plentiful resource of skimboards what three things would you bring?
Ummm…a 30pack of Busch light, suncreen and my pet ants.
What is the best advice you can to a skim grom trying to get recognized?
My best advice would be to skim with other people that push you and have a good time, don’t take everything too seriously or you will forget why you are doing it in the first place.
